This 1973 Triumph Spitfire has come to us from the last owner of some 43 years. He had bought the car in 1978 and by the mid 80s the car was put into storage where it has been ever since covered in a large layer of blankets. The car has just 49,000 miles on the clock and has been remarkably well preserved. There are areas of surface corrosion on the body but nothing of significance apart from the offside rear of the boot lid which will need new metal where a hole has developed. The underside of the car is still in excellent shape with the floor pans and sills all still in good condition. You can see this is an unrestored car because the door gaps are all excellent and sit flush with the wings and the sills. Even the interior is in relatively good shape with just the seats showing the result of years of having heavy items stored upon them. The drives seats base has split at the seam but could be repaired and apart from that there are no rips or tears in the seats. The dashboard as the photographs will show remains in excellent condition.

This car has a rare hardtop fitted but it also has the hood frame and an old hood. The Spitfire hub caps also come with the car as does the petrol cap which was sealed when placed in storage. It looks as if it has had a new petrol tank fitted at some point. The original steering wheel is also with the car

There is an old form V5 with the car, but the next custodian will have to apply to the DVLA to register the car as it has been off the road for so long. There are also some old MOT's from the early 80s.

Overall this car is incredibly sound and apart from some minor work to the boot lid it needs a paint refresh and complete mechanical restoration after so many years in storage. For someone with the right skill set this will prove to be a very rewarding project.
