Description

1970 Triumph TR6 – fast road spec.

We are pleased to present an excellent example of an early TR6. The car is signal red with black trim and comes with the most comprehensive history file that you are ever likely to get with an historic car. This includes the original bill of sale and manufacturers guarantee and it seems that every custodian of the car has been meticulous in keeping invoices for all expenditure right from the start in 1970.

As the photographs show the car remains in superb condition. As always, the first thing we look at with a TR6 are the panel gaps and we are pleased to say that this car has excellent and even gaps and perhaps as importantly the doors remain flush with the body.

Recent invoices show that the car has been subject to a significant amount of expenditure, the most important of which is a full stage 2 engine rebuild in 2012 by TR Bitz. The engine was stripped down and rebuilt to unleaded specification with a Kent TH5 Camshaft and a lightened and balanced bottom end. Unsurprisingly the car now performs exceptionally well with strong acceleration. The engine rebuild including a new clutch and other miscellaneous work came to a total of £3,343. Other recent expenditure includes Spax rear adjustable shock absorbers, inertia seatbelts and also modern leather seats which are black with red piping. The seats are very comfortable and make for an improved driving position. There is always the possibility to return to the original seat design if need be.

Unusually the car also benefits from a power steering upgrade which was carried out in 2013 at a cost of £1,600. This makes the car a lot easier to handle and with the fast road spec it makes for a very fun car to drive.

The hood is brand new mohair and the interior of the car is in superb order with an excellent dashboard and very good carpets. The chrome work is also in superb order and the car sits well on its Minilite wheels. The underneath of the car and chassis is also in very good condition.

There are a lot of TR6s out there but this car is a very well sorted example, especially given the recent engine rebuild. There has been a huge amount of expenditure made on this car over its life and even adding up the invoices for just the last six years, the total comes to over £12,000. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a TR6 at a reasonable price that is in superb order and will give its new owner many years of fantastic driving fun.
