Description

1965 Triumph Spitfire MK2

These cars are something of a rarity now and especially cars that are in super condition as this example is. Having been subject to a full restoration in the past the car presents in superb condition and drives as well as it looks with overdrive available in third and fourth. Importantly this is a matching numbers car and comes with its original log book along with its original invoice which shows the car to have been bought from Williams Motors in Manchester on the 21st May 1965 for the princely sum of £730.69. It also comes with the invoice for its first service at 500 miles and a letter from the original owner to Triumph expressing his dissatisfaction at the time to the dealer that sold him the car that the undersealing he had requested had not been completed correctly; this was then subsequently rectified by Williams Motors! The car also comes with the Triumph Spitfire MK2 sales brochure along with the Shellubrication slip detailing the oil that had been put in the car before it was sold. There is a Triumph Spitfire lubrication chart, a Triumph Service book of service vouchers for the car and an owner’s handbook.

The MOT certificates on file show that the car has done just 500 miles in the last nine years. It has been very carefully looked after by the previous owner and has been stored in a warm and damp free environment. Sadly the previous owner has lost a number of the older MOT certificates but we believe that the current mileage of 60476 mile is genuine.

There is very little to fault about this car, with excellent white paintwork, a superb interior and a well detailed engine bay really setting the car off. The panel gaps on some restored cars can be awful but this one has excellent gaps and has been restored to a good standard.

Having seen top examples sell at auction for £16,000 we believe the car is competitively priced and should rewards its new owner with many hours of driving fun as well as being an appreciating asset.
