Description

This 1996 Rover Mini Cabriolet is something of a rarity and is one of just 1,081 cars made by Rover in partnership with Tickford and latterly Trim Techniques. This particular car is number 1039 which makes it one of the very last to come off the production line. Approximately 70% of the cabriolets were exported which makes this a rare UK car. This particular example was finished in British Racing Green which really sets the car off well with its 12 inch Revolution alloy wheels.

This car has completed a mileage of 87,727 and appears to have been well cared for and has even been the subject of a Cooper World magazine article. The Cabriolet is equipped with the same 1275cc single port fuel injection that the Mini Cooper was issued with meaning the car has plenty of power for wind in your hair motoring.

The body work remains in excellent condition albeit with the odd blemish but as the photographs will demonstrate the car presents very well indeed. The interior is still in good order and the Recaro style seats remain in good condition with no rips or tears. The hood has a slight tear in the outer skin on one side but is otherwise generally in good condition. The interior wood veneer is beginning to lift on the edges in places but is still very presentable.

The car starts on the button, runs cleanly and moves through the gears without issue. It is very responsive and a fun car especially when the sun shines and the top comes down.

More recent mechanical work includes a new clutch, front and rear shock absorbers and fuel pump. The car was last serviced at 86,618 miles.

The history file contains various invoices relating to previous work carried out along with a copy of a magazine where the car was featured along with a number of old MOT certificates and other paperwork issued when the car was new. It has 5 previous keepers. The current MOT is advisory free

Given the prices trajectory of early Minis we feel it is only a matter of time before this limited production run of Rover Cabriolets starts to see some serious price appreciation and this car should make for a fun long term classic investment.
