Description

This immaculate 1968 MGB GT has been the subject of two significant restorations over the last 17 years with the last taking place in 2014 when the car was treated to a full bare metal respray at a cost of over £5,000 and additional work such as a new wiring loom was also carried out along with new drums, fuel lines etc . The finish achieved is exceptionally good and remains so six years later. The car has clearly been cosseted throughout its life as evidenced by the thick history file detailing history back to the 80s with invoices and MOTs from that time. The earlier restoration took place in 2003 by a company called LDD Ltd which involved 180 hours of work which is documented in a hand written from Roger Ludgate who founded Lynx Jaguar. A replacement 5 bearing Gold Seal block was installed as part of previous restoration work and the head was converted to run on unleaded. In more recent times the car has clearly been very well cared for and money has been spent when needed including in 2019 new front brake calipers and pads as well as frequent servicing.

The pictures really say it all about this car it remains immaculate with superb tartan red paint (its original colour) and a lovely well preserved interior with black leather seats and red piping. The car is fitted with overdrive and everything functions as it should. There is even a refurbished LW/MW period radio. The current MOT expires on the 2nd July 2021 and a scan of the DVLA MOT history will show this car has a very clean record over the years which also adds to the value and provenance of the car.

The chrome work is in exceptionally nice condition and is virtually like new as are the pristine chrome wire wheels which really set a car like this off.

The history file has a huge amount of information with invoices dating back to the 80s when the car resided in Blackheath. There is also a full summary of previous ownership which has been supplied by the DVLA at some point showing the car first started life in Hatton Garden, London.

The car starts on the button, runs cleanly and moves through the gears without issue. You will struggle to find a nicer example especially at this price point and especially one with such great provenance.

Act quick as we expect this car to generate lots of interest.
