Description

This exceptionally nice MGB GT was sold by us in early 2021 and the owner has decided it is time for a change and hence the car is now back with us. Prior to its sale last year the car had been in the same family ownership since new, passing from father to son in 1997. The car has completed very little mileage in recent decades and had been in storage for 10 years prior to its sale last year. The car was subject to full recommissioning when it emerged from storage. The total mileage showing is believed correct at 55,005 miles although we do not have sufficient MOT history to warrant this. What we do know is that the car received an Ivor Searle reconditioned engine in 1999 and this engine has completed a little under 1,200 miles which makes this a very low mileage car.

In 2006 the car was also subject to a total body restoration which included new panels where required including two new front wings and a complete respray. The interior was also re-trimmed during the restoration. The total cost of this restoration was £6,471.74.

The recent recommissioning process has included a new battery, new fuel pump, new clutch slave cylinder and a new alternator. The current MOT expires in February 2023 . During the last 18 months or so the car has had further expenditure which totals almost £4,000. This includes a new stainless steel exhaust, a complete interior makeover with new leather front seats, matching rear seat, headrests, door caps, floor mats, Mota Lita leather steering wheel, new inertia reel seat belts, and the fitment of a Caliber DAB radio and speakers. As the photographs will demonstrate, the interior looks fantastic!

The exterior of the car continues to present very well with the odd paint blemish, but otherwise in very good order. The underside is clean and in good condition.

The history file contains invoices relating to the rebuild in 2006 along with the Ivor Searle engine details. All of the recent expenditure is also documented.

With the prices of good chrome bumper cars now comfortably exceeding £10,000 it is inevitable that the rubber bumper prices are going to follow higher and this car in our view is excellent value for money given its low ownership and superb condition.
